Soft ivy leaves grace a dignified column
A dignified column patiently holds up soft ivy leaves.
When we have years on us
we become as strong as this column
able to graciously support others
to bear their burdens
to avoid mistakes and heartache
to heal from past hurts
and to learn how to become strong and worthy
through our wisdom and knowledge.
How wonderful is the benison of old age!

Soft evening embraces autumnal leaves
Soft evening embraces the autumnal leaves and the
gently aged roof of the weathered cottage.
Youth is wonderful; yet there is something
marvellous about the older.
It has been through the storms ...
It has seen many things ...
It has withstood the battering of the elements ...
and come out, triumphant, serene - and slightly weathered -
at the end.
Let us rejoice in our elder years
Our years of wisdom after a lifetime of discovery.
Being older is a privilege that many have not been granted.
Let us thank God for our youth;
treasure our mid years;
and glory in our old age.
It is the time of coming together,
of gathering our wisdom and knowledge into the barn of our life
It is the Time of Our Dignity.

Thirsty ground awaiting the rain
Our souls are like the ground
Thirsty and waiting patiently
for the rain of God's blessing and word
to pour into our souls,
washing away sadness,
bringing new light,
and bringing to life
the seed that lie dormant within us.
Blessed be the God
Who brings new life to our lives.
Amen.

Nature's Chancel
Nature often makes natural Cathedrals
Chancels, and places of worship
where we can stop for a moment -
raise our hearts to God -
and pray.
Thanks be to God for
the beauty that surrounds us.
Thanks be to God for
the eyes to see.
Thanks be to God for
the ears to hear.
Thanks be to God for
the feet to walk.
Thanks be to God
for the intellect to understand.
And - above all -
Thanks be to God
for loving us.
Amen.

Breathtaking Irish hedgerows
As I walk by
glorious roses greet me and
soft carpeting flowers smile shyly at me.
Green leaves murmur in the wind
and it is a perfect slumbrous day in the heart of the
country of Ireland.
In magical Eire
even the hedgerows are breathtaking ...
Praise be God for all His wondrous creation.
